This term we will focussing on learning about nature in our topic Spring Watch.

We will be working on classification of animals using the Taxonomy system. Darwin's theory of Evolution as well as labelling plants and interpreting food chains.

We have no work to show you just yet...stay tuned for some fantastic pieces of work coming soon...

WORKS ARRIVED!!

Over the last couple of weeks we have been doing lots of work in English on balancing arguments and we linked that to our Spring Watch topic by arguing about whether we should all become Vegan in order to save our selves and the environment. Stay Tuned for the final pieces of writing, however have a look at some of our for and against arguments...

We have also been looking at classification and what that means. We agreed that it means grouping and sorting animals into groups using their characteristics.

We had a go at grouping a large number of animals into: mammals, fish, amphibians, birds, insects and reptiles.

We also discussed Carl Linnaeus seven levels of classification. We used his system to classify some animals/insects or plants. We then came up with a mnemonic to remember the names of the seven levels.

The one below was our favourite:

Continuing on with classifying, we classified animals into groups using our taxonomy knowledge and created our own zoo's...

We have also been looking at characteristics living things inherit from their parents. We did this using Mr. Men and Little Miss characters, can you see what the offspring inherited from their parents?
