Welcome to Chinook Class
Meet the Team:
We are delighted to welcome you to our Year 6 class page for the forthcoming academic year. We anticipate a year marked by significant growth, learning, and enjoyment.
This page will serve as a resource for up-to-date information regarding Chinook Class and the various activities throughout the school year. We are eager to share this journey with you.
For any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Wilson via the school office.
Reading:
We expect children to read daily at home. By Year 5 & 6, we encourage students to make personal comments in their reading records regarding their reading experience. These comments may include their reflections on what they enjoyed, their thoughts on characters, or their views on the storyline. We also encourage parents to actively engage in promoting a love of reading by having regular book discussions and incorporating reading into daily routines.
Drink and Snack:
Children should bring a named water bottle to school every day and a healthy, nut-free snack for break time (such as fruit, cheese, or yogurt).
Physical Education (PE):
Year 5 & 6 are required to bring a complete PE kit, including outdoor PE shoes, every Monday morning and take it home on Friday afternoon for washing. Please note that PE and physical activity sessions may vary, so the PE kit should remain in school throughout the week.
Wednesday – Swimming (Year 5)
Outdoor PE (Year 6)
Friday – Indoor PE (Year 5 & 6)
Homework:
While formal homework will not be assigned, it is advantageous for children to practice spellings and times tables at home. The Year 5/6 spellings can be found in the middle of the reading records. Daily reading is also expected.
We are looking forward to a successful and rewarding year ahead!
