Welcome to the Year 2 Class Page!

In Year 2 we have 5 members of staff.

Mrs Hastings, Mrs Davies and Mrs McCrindle are supporting the children in the mornings with all their Maths, English and key skills work such as Reading, Phonics and Handwriting.

In the afternoons Mrs Haythorne teaches  topic work with Mrs Thornton and Mrs Wales. The children have chosen some fantastic topics this year and we have begun with UP! a topic charting the history of flight from DaVinci's first ideas to the very modern European Space Station.

Organisation in Year 2 is as follows:

Monday

• Bring in PE Kit - (including trainers or plimsolls and as the weather gets colder feel free to send leggings or jogging bottoms as we might still do PE outside.)
• Spelling test and new words sent home
• English and Maths homework sent home (around 20 - 25 minutes per subject. If you feel the work is a struggle for your child or is taking much longer than this, please do let us know.)

Thursday

• Bring all homework in.

Friday

• Take home your PE Kit

Year 2 is an important year as the children consolidate their learning skills from the first key stage of their education. If you need to pass information on to us or need to discuss anything, please do come and see us. We are available for quick chats before and after school, but for anything longer please phone the office and make an appointment. We are always happy to meet and support the children in any way we can.
