Use the Force

Use The Force

Science:

Through research and investigation, in this topic we will learn to:

Explain that unsupported objects fall towards the Earth because of the force of gravity acting between the Earth and the falling object. Identify the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction that act between moving surfaces Recognise that some mechanisms including levers, pulleys and gears allow a smaller force to have a greater effect

Computing:

During the project, we will learn to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly as we retrieve information and communicate our ideas about forces. We will also develop and refine our coding skills by animating a forces simulation.

Art and DT:

We will be learning how to improve our mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and collage with a range of materials.

To link with our topic, we will be using our knowledge of forces and materials to construct our very own rockets

History and Geography

We will be using this opportunity to allow the children to revise and learn about the different continents, oceans, and capital cities of a range of countries.

We will also be researching famous inventors and Scientists such as Isaac Newton who have been integral to what we know today about forces.
