Autumn 1 - Feel the Force
Feel the Force!
This term we will focus on art and science. We will learn about how forces are pushes and pulls, identify forces acting on objects around us and compare how things move on different surfaces. Then we will explore the magnetic force, find out which materials it acts upon and investigate which magnets will attract depending on which poles are facing.
We will link this to the art of the American painter Jackson Pollock and how the force of gravity enabled him to create his pieces. We will also explore how to mix colours to create different moods in our own Jackson Pollock-inspired paintings, getting very messy in the process! Here are some of his most famous works:
