Autumn Term 1- Awesome Authors

The focus of this term is to promote reading for pleasure, getting Puma Class engaged and excited about books.

We will be sharing various texts from a variety of ‘Awesome Authors’ including Roald Dahl and Cressida Cowell.

The children will be exploring adventure stories and their features. They will be writing a new chapter for a favourite story, including a new setting and character. There will be an emphasis on self and peer assessing to help in the process of editing, improving and redrafting work.

On September 13th, it would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday so Puma Class will be having a squiffling, buzzwangling,         Dahl-icious celebration.

Art and D&T lessons will also be inspired by the ‘awesome’ stories that the class will be enjoying this term.

The children will be designing and making dream catchers, The Enormous Crocodile, and Dream Jars as well as improving their mastery of art techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with clay.

PE will be taking place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons this term but please have your PE kit all week in case we need to change this some weeks. As Year 3's, the children now have the opportunity to take part in the school Key Stage 2 Cross Country Club that takes place on Monday and Wednesday lunchtimes with Saturday morning races at different schools for those who are interested. Mrs McCrindle is the best person to approach for any further information.

This page will be updated regularly with photos and news .
