Rollercoasters
This term out topic is solely based on Design and Technology. We are SUPER excited to design and make our own rollercoasters this term.
PARENTS: Can you help us? We are going to be in desperate need of some recycling items such as cardboard (cereal boxes), plastic bottles, milk bottles, plastic packaging and anything else that the children could use to construct the MOST AMAZING rollercoasters!
We are awaiting our project to start but as soon as we do, we will post progress shots and designs of the rollercoasters when we get them.
SATS finished only yesterday and today we are throwing ourselves into our EXCITING Rollercoaster Design and Technology project. The children have been doing market research this morning in the computer room searching for ideas for their own rollercoaster creation!
In addition to their market research the children have all come up with company names for their creation.
THE DIAMOND MIRROR CO.
TILTED CO.
NEON LIGHTS CO.
ROLLERCOASTER MASTERS CO.
ROCKET RUSH CO.
SKYRIDERS CO.
The companies were then given a budget to open their own Theme Park and a plan to design where their rollercoasters would go. One of those rollercoasters is going to be the one that the companies make.
The children were given 5 Million to spend and can you believe that they were told to spend more money as they hadn't spent enough!!!!
AAAAAAND THEY ARE OFF!
The construction of the rollercoasters starts this morning!!!

The beginnings of construction...
This morning we had some team briefings and evaluated our progress so far. As companies they decided that they might need to have another go at making improved signs for their rides.
These are the ride names and the children who created them...
We had the best day continuing our market research at Legoland.
To round off the week beautifully the children all working on evaluating their work this morning. They peer assessed each others companies leaving constructive feedback and things that they liked about the other companies rollercoasters and then finally did some self assessing on how they feel the project went for them.
It was nice for the children to have some time to reflect on all the fun and practical activities of this week.
