  • Station Santa Run - Thursday 6 December

    Thu 29 Nov 2018

We are sure that you will know that the Station is holding their Winter Wonderland festive celebrations next Thursday and to have a fabulously festive fun start to this event, there will be a Santa Run starting at 1530hrs from the car park near the Station Church.

The Station have invited children, parents and staff of our school to take part in this event and we know that many of our children (and hopefully parents!), especially our cross country runners, will be very keen to take part. Therefore, we are very happy to release children from school early at 1445hrs from the school office so that parents can take children to the car park by the church ready for a prompt start. Should you wish to collect your child early, please complete the form at the link below.

    Form: https://goo.gl/forms/DH3Eyqcs75MEs7zy2

Two of the organisers of this event will be in the school hall on Monday and Tuesday from 3pm to sell adult and children santa suits. Adult suits cost £10 and child suits cost £5. Children not wanting a santa suit but still wanting to take part can accompany their parents with free entry and they will get a free santa hat. There will be a prize for the first adult and first child across the line - will it be you?!

Further details and the map of the course, which is set to go around the sports field, are attached as pictures to this message.

We hope that you are able to support this event which is sponsored by RAFFA. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Year 4

    Mon 19 Nov 2018

As you will know, Miss Buttery has been enormously helpful in supporting Year 4 whilst Miss Webster is off recovering following her knee injury.  Due to professional arrangements made prior to agreeing to take on this role, Miss Buttery will sadly be leaving us on Friday 23rd November.  I am sure you will join me in thanking her for being so marvellous in supporting the children in Year 4 and wish her all the very best as she embarks on her next exciting adventure.

Mrs Whitty and Mrs Wales have agreed to pick up the teaching of Year 4 from Monday 26th November until Miss Webster returns later this term.  Mrs Whitty will teach in the mornings and Mrs Wales will teach in the afternoons.

Should you have any questions, please contact the school office.

  • Christmas Shop

    Fri 16 Nov 2018

One of the features of the upcoming Christmas Fair (and one of the favourites!) will be the Christmas Shop.

The children can come into the shop (without an adult) to choose Christmas presents to buy for their parents.  Each present will cost £2.00 and we will wrap the chosen gifts so the children can then take them home to hide until Christmas Day.  In previous years we have also sent presents overseas to deployed parents.  The shop runs purely on generous donations, which have included toiletries, jewellery, confectionery, mugs, non-fiction books, scarfs, etc (we cannot however accept any dvds, alcohol, or sharp items).

If you have any items that you would like to donate, or any unwanted Christmas wrapping paper you may have, then please bring them to the school office.

  • Remembrance Service

    Thu 08 Nov 2018

It is that time of year when we remember and thank those who made the ultimate sacrifice and also those who have served and are currently still are serving; both home and away.

Over the last couple of weeks, childnre have been completing a number of activities linked to reflecting on serving personnel.

Friday 9th marks the school service and our School Council going to the Hangar to represent our school at the Station Act of Remembrance.

We would also like to invite your child to the Benson Village Act of Remembrance on Sunday 11 November, along with yourselves. We usually have a very good turn out and ask that children turn up in school uniform. This event has been a great opportunity for children to see how many organisations and individuals within a community gather together to mark the occasion - and with it being 100 years I am sure the fly past will be just as special. There is a church service in St Helen's Church after the event for families wishing to attend.

We are meeting outside Benson Butchers at 10:15am. We look forward to seeing you there.
