  • Weather Forecast

    Thu 31 Jan 2019

With the forecast of snow on the way we thought that we would just remind you to keep an eye on the school website for any updates on what is happening. Should the decision be to close, we will send a notification out on the school app as soon as the decision is made.

Making the decision to close school is never one taken lightly and is based on a number of factors such as:

    1. Safety of staff travelling so that the school can open and safely operate - especially as we have a large number of teaching staff working least a 30 minute drive away
    2. Safety of parents and children travelling in the local area
    3. Safety of the school grounds so that children and staff can move around safely

We will try to give you the information as soon as possible however the decision needs to made once Mrs Fawdry has heard from all staff as to their ability to attempt travelling in which may mean that the timing of our notice to close may differ from that at local schools. Mrs Fawdry also liaises with Headteachers in local schools giving an indication as to what the situation is like in the wider community and a closure is only made if absolutely necessary.

At the moment based on the current forecast, we are expecting to open school tomorrow (Friday 1st February), however should this change during the night, early morning or even during the school day tomorrow, we will let you know with a notification as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding, support and cooperation in this matter. The safety of our school community remains our highest priority at all times.

  • Music For Schools Foundation - Music Lessons

Mr Summers from the Music For Schools Foundation (MFSF) visited school today and gave a demonstration of musical instruments to our children.

MFSF offer music lessons for brass and woodwind instruments (they advise that children learning an instrument should be aged 7 years or older).  Your child will be bringing home a leaflet today with further information.  Please complete and return the form that is on the back of the leaflet if you are able to attend the meeting (see below), or if you would like further information.  The lessons are held in school on a Thursday morning and payment to MFSF is required.

Mr Summers will be back in school on Monday 28th January 2019 at 3.20 pm to give parents and children an opportunity to learn more about the lessons and children will also have the opportunity to try the instruments on offer.  This meeting will last around 45 minutes and will take place in the hall.

  • Activity Passport

    Wed 02 Jan 2019

The Department for Education has released this really brilliant activity passport which encourages families to take part in a number of activities during the academic year. Activities are listed in the year group that your child is in.

The Activity Passport can be found here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/767941/Schools_Enrichment_Booklet__web.pdf

How many activities can you do as a family? We would love to hear of your experiences with any pictures too - maybe you would like to show us a scrap book at the end of the school year showing what you and your child/ren have done.
