Walk Like an Egyptian
This term, we will use the book 'The Red Pyramid' by Rick Riordan to develop our reading skills. We will also be writing explanation texts on the mummification process and cinquain poems about Ancient Egypt.
In History, we will start by developing our understanding of when the first civilizations occurred. Then, we will learn about Ancient Egypt in depth, including locating the country, creating a timeline of the main events, researching the pyramids and Sphinx, understanding the significance of Howard Carter’s discovery, researching the Egyptian gods and goddesses, explaining the importance of the ‘Book of the Dead’ and researching life in Ancient Egypt.
In Art, we will be creating Ancient Egyptian death masks. We will start by researching their purpose and gathering ideas from examples. We will then produce a range of designs, use e-resources to create an Ancient Egyptian death mask and evaluate the process.
