It is the start of the second term of the year already! The teacher in Year 4 is Miss Olive and the teaching assistants are Mrs Whitty and Mrs Andrews. Our topic this term is navigation. We will be looking around the
world at different countries and landmarks with a particular focus on South America.
The children will plan journeys with particular landmarks in mind. They will use compass directions and resources such as atlases in this work. The children will also create their own imaginary lands. The children will also look at maps of the local area and use co-ordinates to locate landmarks. We will look at local land use and discuss why this may vary from area to area and what influences these differences.
At the end of the term we will be making Christmas decorations and other craft ideas. There will be songs to learn and other Christmas activities. I am sure it will be an exciting term.
