Term 2: Fly me to the Moon

This term we are going to be learning all about SPACE!

It is going to be a really exciting term where we will be developing lots of different skills.

We will be learning all about different Astronauts and their adventures in space. We will be exploring what life is like in space through role play and dramatization.

In science we will learning about everyday materials and their properties. We will then be using the knowledge we gain to build our very own space capsule.

Can we complete the Secret Space Mission we will be set?

In art we will continue to explore materials, using different techniques and processes to create beautiful pieces of artwork based around Space. We will explore the different effects we can make using wax, ink, charcoal and pencils. We will even use papier machè to create a model of the solar system.

In history we will be finding out all about the ‘Space Race’. We will look at the time line of space travel and find out all about some of the people who have travelled to space including Neil Armstrong, Mae Jemison and Tim Peake.

It's going to be fun!

At the end of the term we will be sharing our production of ‘The Grinch’, which we will be rehearsing and filming throughout the term.

We hope you like it!

We have been making papier mache planets!!

This term in science we have been learning about everyday materials. We identified different ones, looked at their features and what purposes they could be used for. We then applied our knowledge to a DT/Science experiment. Watch the video below to find out what we did!
