Apache - Year 4

WELCOME TO APACHE CLASS

Teachers: Mrs Hastings (am) & Mrs Dodgson (pm)

Teaching Assistants: Mrs McCrindle & Mrs Turner

We are very excited to welcome you to Apache class this year. We have lots of exciting topics and activities planned to support your learning, which we hope you will enjoy.

Please keep an eye on our class page for updates.

Key information:

Reading: We recommend reading at home for at least 10-15 minutes per day and marking this in your home reading record. This way, if you are having difficulties, we know how to help you. We read in class too so make sure that reading records and books are in your bag every day. Due to COVID-19 we will only be changing our books once a week so that the books that have been taken home can go into our Quarantine Box for 72 hours and be safe for someone else to read.

Drink and Snack: Please bring a named water bottle in every day and a healthy snack for break time (fruit, cheese, yogurt) as there is no Tuck Shop operating at present. Please ensure that your snacks are nut-free.

PE Kits: Please bring in a full kit including outdoor PE shoes on a Monday morning and take everything home again on a Friday afternoon to be washed. PE and physical activities can sometimes change days so please make sure your kit stays in all week.

Homework: All homework supports our class learning and English and Maths go home in a Homework Book every Monday. It should be completed as fully as possible and should be handed back in on a Thursday morning. If you are finding homework challenging, ask an adult at home to help you or speak to an adult in the classroom who will always be happy to help.

Spellings: Spellings go home every Friday in a separate Spelling Book. Please ensure you practise your spellings - it makes a big difference to your work. Remember to bring your Spelling Book back in every Friday for your spelling test and to receive your next set of spellings to practice at home.

Remember, we are always happy to talk to parents and carers. However, with the current COVID-19 situation, we ask that you make an appointment if it is more than just a quick question. You can also contact us through the school office or the school email system. If there is an issue that we need to discuss with you, the teacher will phone you on that day after 3.30pm.

We look forward to lots of fun and learning in Year 4!
