We are kicking off our first term with a GROOOOOVY topic all about the Ancient Greeks.
In our lessons we will journey back 3000 years to discover what the Greeks did for us, who was better – Athenians or Spartans and which God and Goddesses were nice or naughty!
We will immerse ourselves in Greek mythology to discover who the true heroes, villains and monsters were. The books below will be our ‘muses’ to inspire us as we write our own Greek myths and newspaper recounts.
Just as the Ancient Greeks did, we will record our stories pictorially as paintings on vases. Make sure you check back here for pictures of our masterpieces!
As the Greeks were the founders of the Olympics, as scientists we will look at how the human body develops, how to keep it healthy and design Olympic activities which will support each stage of development – including old age! We will then hold our own Olympic ceremony and invite parents in to compete…who will be crowned our Olympic Champions???
