RAF Benson Primary awarded Primary Science Quality Mark

We were delighted to receive news in May 2022, that our submission for a Round 21 spring Primary Science Quality Mark was successful. Congratulations to the team for their inspiring science, and in particular to Mrs Dodgson for pulling together our detailed submission!

National Curriculum

The national curriculum for science aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
  • develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
  • are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future. 

Scientific enquiry skills

Our amazing science ambassadors are now doing a fantastic job promoting scientific enquiry skills in school across the whole curriculum. 

The key areas of scientific enquiry are:

  • asking questions
  • making predictions
  • setting up tests
  • observing and measuring
  • recording data
  • interpreting and communicating results
  • evaluating
