Resilience Reaps Rewards

Our school is taking part in the Resilience Reaps Rewards programme led by choreographer of Young Voices and founder of Urban Strides, Andy Instone. This initiative supports our whole school community in developing the skills and mindset needed to build resilience, confidence and a positive approach to learning.

What is Resilience Reaps Rewards?

Resilience Reaps Rewards is a programme designed to help schools create a positive, supportive learning culture. It focuses on practical strategies that help children, staff and families develop resilience, emotional wellbeing and strong learning habits. This programme builds on the work we have been doing on growth mindset.

The programme is based on research from fields such as neuroscience, psychology and wellbeing and translates this knowledge into simple techniques that can be used in everyday school life.

What will it look like in school?

Throughout the programme, staff will be introduced to a range of practical strategies and activities that can be used in lessons and across the school day. These include:

  • Techniques to help children stay focused and ready to learn

  • Activities that build confidence, perseverance and a “can-do” attitude

  • Simple wellbeing practices that help children manage stress and regulate emotions

  • Opportunities for reflection and gratitude that promote positive relationships and self-belief

How does it benefit our children?

The programme aims to help children:

  • Develop confidence and self-belief

  • Learn how to approach challenges positively

  • Improve focus, memory and engagement in learning

  • Build emotional awareness and resilience

  • Feel happier and more motivated at school

Working together with families

Resilience Reaps Rewards also encourages strong partnerships between school and home. Parents can receive guidance and ideas to support their children’s wellbeing and resilience outside school, helping create a consistent approach between home and school.

Our goal

By embedding these strategies across our school, we aim to create an environment where children feel confident to take on challenges, learn from mistakes and celebrate their achievements. Building resilience helps children develop important life skills that support both their learning now and their future wellbeing.
